MIS Academic Leadership Conference

November 13 - 15, 2025 | Miami Herbert Business School presents: MIS Academic Leadership Conference

The MIS Academic Leadership Conference (MALC) will occur Thursday, November 13, through Saturday, November 15, at the University of Miami, in vibrant Coral Gables, Florida. MALC is the premier forum for academic leaders in Management Information Systems to connect, collaborate, and navigate the evolving landscape of business technology education.

Welcome from the Dean

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 2025 MIS Academic Leadership Conference (MALC), hosted by the University of Miami Patti and Allan Herbert Business School.

We are thrilled to convene this year’s MALC in the heart of Miami, a vibrant global hub of digital innovation and artificial intelligence (AI), and a city that mirrors the spirit and ambition of our business school. At Miami Herbert, we are committed to shaping the future of business through bold ideas, transformative research, and strategic leadership, values that align perfectly with the mission of MALC and the critical role that MIS and AI play in today’s rapidly evolving business landscape.

The theme of this year’s conference, “AI as an Emerging Imperative for Business School Leaders,” resonates deeply with our strategic vision. As AI transforms how we teach, research, and lead, MIS and Business Technology departments are poised to lead the transformation of business schools.

As an Information Systems researcher myself, I am especially proud that Miami Herbert is a platform for this important conversation on the future of AI, bringing together innovative academic leaders to tackle these major business and societal challenges with creativity and a collaborative spirit.

Thank you for joining us in this pivotal moment for our field and for your leadership in driving the future of business school education forward. We look forward to an inspiring and impactful MALC conference.

Welcome to Miami, and welcome to Miami Herbert Business School!

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2025 MIS Academic Leadership Conference (MALC), hosted by the University of Miami Patti and Allan Herbert Business School.

As Chair of this year’s conference, I’m especially excited to gather in Miami, a city shaped by global innovation and diversity, for what promises to be a highly engaging and forward-looking event. Since its inception, MALC has served as a vital space for MIS academic leaders to share insights, exchange strategies, and support one another in the complex work of shaping our field.

This year’s conference theme, “AI as an Emerging Imperative for Business School Leaders,” reflects one of the most urgent transformations facing our departments today. As artificial intelligence reshapes business practice, education, and research, MIS is uniquely positioned to lead. Together, we will explore how our programs can respond proactively—with curricular innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and institutional leadership.

Whether you are a returning participant or joining us for the first time, I look forward to welcoming you to a dynamic, candid, and collaborative conference. Thank you for being part of this important conversation.

Warm regards,
Robert Plant, Ph.D.
