Guidelines on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Graduate Admissions Applications at Miami Herbert Business School

At the University of Miami, Patti and Allan Herbert Business School we recognize that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is shaping the future of innovation and technology, and we welcome this change. We are committed to fostering creativity and innovative approaches, both in our academic programs, pedagogy, admissions processes and curricular structures. While we encourage the responsible use of AI tools, we also emphasize the importance of authenticity and personal integrity in graduate admissions applications and process. These guidelines aim to balance innovation with fairness, ensuring a transparent and equitable evaluation process for all applicants and the proper disclosure of external sources such as Artificial Intelligence. - Purpose
These guidelines outline the acceptable use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and technologies in the preparation and submission of graduate admissions applications. - Scope
These guidelines apply to all applicants seeking admission to graduate business programs at the Miami Herbert Business School, within the University of Miami. - Guidelines
Applicants are permitted to use AI tools for assistance in organizing and refining their application materials; however, any content submitted must reflect the applicant's own experiences, qualifications, and perspectives. All AI-generated or enhanced content must be explicitly stated, and quotations used to cite works taken directly from AI-generated content.
Miami Herbert Business School does not allow the use of live-stream translation services or other AI to help provide language fluency during interviews and assessments. Candidates must have the ability to communicate in English without the help of technological services.
Misrepresentation through AI-generated content is strictly prohibited and is in violation of the university's academic integrity policy. The university assumes the integrity of this information and reserves the right to revoke admission.
The University of Miami, Miami Herbert Business School, reserves the right to use AI within any portion of the admissions process, evaluation, or marketing communications. - Consequences of Misuse
Misrepresentation or failure to disclose AI usage may result in any or all of the following consequences:
- Application rejection.
- Revocation of admission if discovered after acceptance.
- Reporting to relevant academic and legal authorities. - Ongoing Monitoring and Review
These guidelines will be reviewed annually to ensure their relevance and effectiveness as AI technologies evolve.
