Global Responsibility

Business and Human Rights

Aligned with Miami Herbert’s mission of developing principled leaders and our commitment to promote the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, there is a growing interest to ensure that business leaders take an active role in promotion and protection of human rights around the world.

Resources in the areas of Human Rights and Business:

First International Network on Trust (FINT)

Housed at Miami Herbert, the First International Network on Trust (FINT) Seminar Series exists to connect trust researchers across the globe to advance understanding of interpersonal and systems trust. This scholarly series is intended to help maintain connection and engagement between those in the FINT community as well as build new connections with scholars across disciplines who are interested in micro or macro scholarship related to trust within and between organizations.

GBSN

The role of the GBSN is to ensure that the developing world has the needed management talent (leaders, managers, and entrepreneurs) to generate prosperity.

  • A member since 2018, Miami Herbert  is contributing to this global mission by actively collaborating at the institutional and faculty level and by ensuring that our students develop well-rounded perspectives on their journeys to become principled leaders.
  • Selected as host for the 2020 Annual Conference, Miami Herbert played a significant role as the conference pivoted to a virtual environment “GBSN Beyond: Virtual Conference Reimagined” contributing to the conceptual framework and participating in each of the tracks: Beyond the Classroom (Faculty Track), Beyond Graduation (Student Track), Beyond Administration (Leadership Track). Notably, Dr. Karoline Mortensen served as on the Human Rights panel and continues to collaborate with GBSN in the public health space and Dr. Joan Martinez-Evora developed a simulation focused on ethical business behavior.

Global Crossing Airlines Graduate Business Scholarships

Following the challenges in Afghanistan, Miami Herbert will offer two full-tuition scholarships beginning as early as January 2022 to people who recently evacuated from Afghanistan. The Global Crossing Airlines Graduate Business Scholarships were made possible through the generous gift from Global Crossing Airlines Group, Inc. (GlobalX). GlobalX is the newest US airline flying the Airbus A320 family aircraft. GlobalX flies as a charter airline serving the US, Caribbean, and Latin American markets.
