Business and Latin Honors
Students with outstanding academic records may earn designations on the Dean’s List, the Provost’s Honor Roll, and/or the President’s Honor Roll, which are posted at the end of each academic semester. Miami Herbert also has chapters of several business honor societies.
Graduating seniors who have distinguished themselves throughout their undergraduate journey may also earn General Business Honors, Business Departmental Honors, and/or traditional Latin Honors.
Students who earn a BSBA or BSAF may graduate with General Business Honors when meeting the following criteria:
- Completion of all of the requirements of the BSBA or BSAF degree program.
- A minimum of 3.75 cumulative GPA at graduation.
Students who achieve distinction in their major are encouraged to pursue honors in a particular business discipline.
Graduation with Departmental Honors requires:
- A minimum of 3.9 GPA in Miami Herbert courses at the end of the junior year.
- Completion of a 3-credit hour research project during the entire senior year on a topic of interest to both the faculty member supervising the research and the student. The research and written deliverable must be deemed of exceptional quality, consistent with the workload of a 3-credit, upper-level independent study course, and worthy of a designation that is only open to the top one percent of the Business School’s undergraduates.
- A minimum of 3.9 GPA in all Miami Herbert courses at graduation.
Students who major in two distinct major areas of specialization may complete their honors research project in the department of either business major specialization.
Students may be nominated for or elected into an honor society based on specific criteria. Contact the listed department for additional information.
